Katrina's a Taiwan-based techno purist, blending techno classics with unexpected oddities. Her work as a DJ is rounded out by both production and promotion. She pushes Taipei's "Innerve" techno parties, and Japan's 951beat just released her first single, "Scintilla." Her mix for D-Node caught our attention with its inclusion of Frankie Bones and a host of jackers. Doesn't shy away from pace adjustments. Enjoy.

Barbuto came up in Australia but is now based in Austin, Texas, where he became resident of Kingdom nightclub and a recognized top DJ in the city. His set for D-Node quickly keeps things dark and moving, like the bulk of his work as a DJ/producer. It quickly gets into some jacking tracks and makes its way to trippier, mind-bending grooves. It's dark, bass-heavy, and full of driving energy.

This week we're pleased to welcome back Israel Vines for a live recording from our Prime / Prototype event back in April featuring Ben Klock. Those familiar with the podcast already know Vines' Midwestern training and contemporary roots in LA, and as usual his mix delivers a journey with a variety of sounds and rhythms. This was the night's opening set and serves as a great example of how to start the night and work up the crowd. As such it's ideal for personal listening, starting in ambient...

DJ/producer Mor Elian spends her time between Berlin and LA, where she connects the dots between house and techno with her monthly Dublab show Plaza 2 Plaza. She's released on Prime Numbers but just released a new EP on Hypercolour, Drum Vortex. Her mix this week for D-Node focuses less on the frenzied peak and more on a particular techno atmosphere that would work in the club but is perfect for the podcast.

Ohio producer/DJ/composer James Johnson (Plural) has been performing this music since the mid '90s, and for the past decade has released tracks and killer remixes on over a dozen labels. This includes last year's "Shifting Forward" on the incomparable Metroplex, as well as his current "No Time To Explain" on Diffuse Reality, the title track of which is included in this mix.
The mix for D-Node sounds straight out of a warehouse. Constantly driving and dark, but threaded with pads, atmosphe...
