D-Node 205: Q’Hey | Torque Japan

A mainstay of the Japanese techno scene, Q’Hey‘s been a DJ since 1989. He’s the primary organizer behind the fabled Reboot techno series at Maniac Love and the founder of Moon Age Recordings. In 2011 he founded BPM Japan (Be Positive Music) to benefit victims of the earthquake/tsunami.

He’s recently provided a remix on Jeff Mills’ album “Where Light Ends” (featured in this mix), and this month he’s released his new album “Core” on Japanese label Torque. The album mixes futuristic sounds and textures across a wide range of intensities and conventions. A similar, but harder sound informed by both ambient textures and driving warehouse rhythms informs his mix for us this week.
