Ninja Tune + Droid Behavior presents Werkdiscs | 9.28

Legendary UK left-field label Ninja Tune and Droid Behavior presents the Werkdiscs showcase featuring Actress, Evian Christ and Mass Prod. The crew collectively debut in Los Angeles at the Complex on Saturday September 28th 2013. Droid residents Raiz will be on warm up duties. Prepare for a night of off kilter hard groove, experimentation and infectious dance music from a different realm. Doors open at 9pm. 21+



Actress is heading to North America this fall, performing a set of select, handpicked dates. Kicking off in Seattle as a part of Decibel Festival, Actress’ tour finds him stopping at Mountain Oasis in Asheville, MUTEK in Mexico City, and VIA Festival in Pittsburgh, as well as a very special Werkdiscs party in Los Angeles, co-hosted by Actress’ new co-label, NinjaTune. The tour comes as Actress puts the finishing touches on his latest record. Due out in the near future, the record is a follow-up to his breakthrough 2012 record, R.I.P. Over the last ten years, Actress, aka Darren J. Cunningham, has made a name for himself as one of London’s most exciting, enigmatic producers. His breakthrough record Hazyville drew cries for a Mercury Award Nomination upon release in 2008. He’s remixed Various Production, written for the seminal techno imprint Soma Records and has released Splazsh more recently R.I.P on Honest Jons, the British independent record label created and founded by Damon Albarn. Cunningham has also made a name for himself co-running his label Werkdiscs and discovering and releasing some of the most widely talked about artists like Disrupt, Zomby, Lukid and Starkey. He’s starred in a unique cinematic portrait filmed by Pierre Debusschere, as well as performing stunning live shows at Sonar Tokyo and Barcelona, Berghain, the Turbine Hall in the Tate Modern, Fabric London and DJ’d alongside the likes of Juan Atkins, UR, Modeselektor, Radioactive Man, Dabrye, Kode9 and Flying Lotus.
